CASPER, Wyo. – Chadron State College senior Kalane Anders of Bayard will be among the 12 contestants in tonight’s finals of steer wrestling at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper. He is in 10th place with three runs totaling 18.5 seconds. The event leader is Bridger Anderson of Northwestern Oklahoma, who has a cumulative time of 12.4 seconds.
Two more Chadron State entries had a chance to make the finals, but didn’t receive a third go-round score Friday night.
Through the first two go-rounds, Quincy Segelke of Brush, Colo., was among the leaders with times of 2.1 and 2.6 seconds. But she failed to catch her third calf Friday night and finishes 13 in the standings. All 12 of those advancing to tonight’s finals posted three times.
CSC bull rider Miles Englehart scored 72.5 points on his first bull last Sunday, but he wasn’t able to stay aboard either of his other two bulls.
Coby Johnson of Sheridan College is the only bull rider to stick all three of his bulls at the rodeo. Nine others rode two and the remaining two made it to the whistle on just one bull, but their scores were higher than Englehart’s.
