LINCOLN – After suffering their first loss of the season and ending the 31-game winning streak with a loss at Loras on Saturday, the Nebraska Wesleyan men’s basketball team drops from the No. 1 spot in this week’s D3hoops.com NCAA III Men’s Basketball Top 25 Poll.
Augustana (Ill.) takes over the top spot in the poll receiving 13 first place votes and 607 total points. NWU received nine first place votes and 595 points to fall to No. 2 in the top 25 poll. Two other teams received first place votes with Whitman getting two votes to remain at No. 3 in the poll and Wisconsin-Oshkosh had the remaining vote to stay No. 4.
Nebraska Wesleyan is 18-1 overall after the 84-76 loss to Loras, which moved up to No. 18 in the top 25 this week. Augustana has a 19-1 overall record and their only loss of the year is also to Loras.
The Prairie Wolves went nearly one full calendar year without losing a game winning 31 straight games since their last loss on Jan. 27, 2018 at Simpson College. NWU was the unanimous No. 1 ranked team for seven straight polls this year.
NWU will look to get back on the winning track this week starting on Wednesday night (Jan. 30) when they play at Central College in Pella, Iowa. The Prairie Wolves next home game is Saturday afternoon (Feb. 2) against Buena Vista University.
