LINCOLN – Nebraska Wesleyan University ranks 21st in the 2017-18 Learfield Directors’ Cup/NCAA Division III Standings after the winter championship season has been completed.
NWU has 340.50 total points to rank 21st out of the more than 440 NCAA III institutions. Points are awarded based on each school’s finish in NCAA Championships.
The Prairie Wolves men’s basketball team earned 100 points for their national championship, while the NWU women’s track & field team brought in 75 points by finishing 4th at the indoor championships. Nebraska Wesleyan finished 19th at the NCAA III men’s swimming championships behind the performance of Garrett Cadotte to earn 54.5 points, while the NWU men’s track & field team was 55th for 17 points.
Of the seven winter sports that NWU offers, the Prairie Wolves competed at nationals in four of the championships.
MIT leads the NCAA III standings with 686.50 points, followed by Johns Hopkins and Williams College. Wartburg College is the top Iowa Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (IIAC) school ranking 10th. Loras is 19th, just two spots ahead of Nebraska Wesleyan as the IIAC has three top 25 institutions.
